How much do made-to-measure curtains cost in Mysore?

The honest answer is "it depends on the window and the fabric" — but that's not very useful on its own. Here's what actually drives the price, with real ranges, so you can get a realistic sense of cost before you book a home visit.

Fabric is where most of the range comes from

Fabric price is the single biggest factor in what a curtain costs, and it varies more than people expect: roughly ₹250 to ₹5,000 per metre, depending on the material and finish. A plain, everyday fabric and a premium embroidered or imported one can be more than 15 times apart in price for the same size window — which is why "how much do curtains cost" doesn't have one answer.

• ₹250–500/metre: basic solid-colour cotton or polyester blends. Practical, budget-friendly, good for rental homes or rooms where style matters less than function.
• ₹500–1,500/metre: better-quality cotton, linen blends and simple patterns. The range most living rooms and bedrooms land in.
• ₹1,500–3,000/metre: premium linen, textured weaves and jacquards, and fabrics with a proper blackout or thermal lining.
• ₹3,000–5,000/metre: embroidered, velvet, imported or specialty fabrics for a statement room.

How much fabric does one window actually need?

This is the part a per-metre price doesn't tell you on its own. Curtains are made fuller than the window itself — usually one and a half to two times the track width — so the fabric folds and drapes properly instead of hanging flat. A wider window, a fuller pleat style, or floor-length curtains all use more fabric than a narrow window with a simple, sill-length style.

This is exactly why we measure at your home rather than quote a flat "per window" price over the phone — two windows of the same width can need noticeably different amounts of fabric depending on style and length.

What else changes the final quote

• Lining: a blackout or thermal lining adds cost but also adds function, especially for bedrooms (see our bedroom window coverings guide).
• Length and fullness: floor-length, fuller curtains use more fabric than sill-length, flatter ones.
• Hardware: tracks, rods and finials are usually quoted separately from the fabric itself.
• Stitching and installation: made-to-measure means the fabric is cut and finished specifically for your window, which is part of what you're paying for beyond the raw fabric cost.

What about blinds or motorisation instead?

If budget is the main driver, blinds are usually the lower entry point: they typically range from ₹60 to ₹2,000 per square foot, depending on material — from simple PVC or fabric roller blinds at the lower end, up to premium wooden or motorised options at the top.
